WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's soccer team faced a tough offensive attack Saturday afternoon as North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent SUNYIT outscored the Bison 10-1 at Hoy Field.
The Wildcats (1-5, 1-2 NEAC) spread the ball around throughout the game as six different players scored goals and 11 players took shots on goal. Senior forward Kristina Strang led the Wildcats attack as she notched a hat trick including the first goal of the game in the first minute and back-to-back goals in the fifth and eighth minute, respectively. Senior midfielder Katie Driscoll was right behind Strang as she added two assists and a goal of her own.
The Bison (0-7-1, 0-3 NEAC) were forced into a defensive game as the Wildcats took 37 shots (16 shots on goal). Sophomore Zamica Gage (Austin, Texas) put Gallaudet on the board in the 66th minute as she scored an unassisted goal, her first on the season.
Gallaudet looks to bounce back in its first away NEAC contest at Keuka College (2-2-1, 1-1 NEAC) on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m.
