AURORA, N.Y. – Another slow start hampered Gallaudet University's ability to earn its first women's soccer win of the season on Sunday as the Bison fell 5-0 on the road against Wells College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game. This is the seventh time the Bison (0-9-1, 0-5 NEAC) have been shut out this season.
In 10 games this season, Gallaudet has surrendered 12 goals in the game's first 10 minutes. For the fourth consecutive game the Bison gave up a goal early as Wells' Lindsey Bush scored off an assist from Shannon Blanford (three goals, two assists) just three minutes into the game. Blanford netted the first of her three goals in the ninth minute and the Express (3-7, 3-1 NEAC) never looked back. Wells took a 4-0 lead into halftime.
Junior midfielder Sofia Lindevall (Stockholm, Sweden) led the Bison with four shots (three on goal) in the loss. Senior goalie Kara Gulvas (Crown Point, Ind.) made 14 saves in 63 minutes of work. Sophomore Jennifer Livengood (Jacksonville, Fla.) closed out the game and made four saves and allowed no goals.
Gallaudet will venture out of conference on Wednesday, Oct. 2, and make the short trip to Frederick, Md., to face Hood College (2-6) at 4:30 p.m.
