WASHINGTON – Hood College shut out Gallaudet University, 7-0, on Wednesday night in a women's soccer non-conference game at Hotchkiss Field.
Hood (4-6-2) three times off corner kick opportunities as Blazer defender Samantha Norris passed out four assists in the win. The Blazers wasted little time as they scored 35 seconds into the match on 20-yard blast from Jill Heyman. The score remained 1-0 until three more Blazer goals closed out the first half.
In the second half, forward Jessie Herbert netted two goals, both assisted by Norris, in a four-minute span. Her second tally of the game was a header off a corner kick by Norris.
Gallaudet (1-10) had five shots in the first half as Hood outshot the Bison 32-6 in the game. Senior midfielder Sofia Lindevall (Stockholm, Sweden) led GU with six shots in the game. Junior goalie Jennifer Livengood (Jacksonville, Fla.) made 14 saves as she faced 21 shots on goal.
Gallaudet will conclude its four-game homestand on Saturday, Oct. 4, when the Bison welcome North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Wilson College (2-8, 0-7 NEAC) for a noon contest. The Bison, who have lost 10 straight games, is still seeking their first conference win this season.
