GU drops NEAC opener to Penn St.-Abington, game ends early due to lightning

HORSHAM, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women's soccer team dropped their first conference match Saturday afternoon falling, 3-0, to host Penn St.-Abington in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The game was suspended in the 79th minute due to lightning.

Gallaudet goalie Jennifer Livengood (Jacksonville, Fla.) made 12 saves in the loss as she faced 15 shots on goal. Penn St.-Abington outshot Gallaudet, 26-1, and the Nittany Lions (2-1, 1-0 NEAC) took 12 corner kicks.

Penn St.-Abington scored two early goals in the first 12 minutes with goals by Cindy Wade and Elizabeth Jones. Megan Murphy added a third goal in the 37th minutes on an assist from Gabriela Roldan as the Lions led 3-0 at halftime.

Gallaudet (1-2, 0-1 NEAC) returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 9, as they travel to Baltimore to take on Notre Dame of Maryland University.
