READING, Pa. - The Gallaudet University women's soccer team was unable to stop North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) leader Penn St.-Berks as the Nittany Lions beat the Bison 14-0 on the road.
Penn St.-Berks (7-1, 6-0 NEAC) scored in the second minute of action and did not look back. Jen Kessler (three goals, one assist) led the Nittany Lions with a hat trick. Penn St.-Berks spread the ball around as 10 different players scored goals on the day. The Nittany Lions continued the pressure throughout the match as they scored six goals in the first half and eight in the second, with the final goal coming in the 88th minute.
The Nittany Lions outshot the Bison 60-2 and took eight corner kicks. Junior midfielder Megan Calik (Conyers, Ga.) led the Bison with one shot on goal. In net for the Bison, junior Jennifer Livengood (Jacksonville, Fla.) faced 33 shots on goal and saved 19.
This is the second straight year the Nittany Lions beat the Bison by the same margin.
The Bison (1-7, 0-5 NEAC) return home on Saturday, Sept. 27, at noon as they take on conference foe Cazenovia College (4-4, 2-4 NEAC) at Hotchkiss Field.
