LYNCHBURG, Va. – Randolph College ran past the Gallaudet University women's soccer team here Sunday afternoon as the Bison suffered their first loss of the season, 7-1, on the road.
Gallaudet (1-1) was forced to play defense a majority of the game as the WildCats (3-0) held the Bison to one shot in the first half, four total in the game. Senior midfielder Sofia Lindevall (Stockholm, Sweden) scored GU's lone goal in the 82nd minute off an assist from Justina Ercolino (Milton, Ontario).
Randolph's Alissa Gembach scored the game's first two goals while teammate Brittney Hammons added two second half goals as Randolph built a 5-0 lead before Lindevall found the back of the net. WildCat Leslie Harrison tallied three second half assists in the win.
Junior goalie Jennifer Livengood (Jacksonville, Fla.) made 10 out of her 19 saves in the first half for the Bison. Stephanie Quirk (one save) picked up the win for Randolph.
The Bison open up North Eastern Athletic Conference play on the road Saturday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m. against Penn St.–Abington (1-1).
