GU defense stops 14 shots in 4-0 loss to Christendom

FRONT ROYAL, Va. - The Gallaudet University women's soccer team ventured out of conference Tuesday and lost 4-0 to Christendom College.

Gallaudet (2-10) freshman goalie Silvya Levesque (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) made 13 saves in net for the Bison in the loss.

Senior midfielder Katie Benz (Ottawa, Ontario) and sophomore forward Brittany Mallach (Milton, Ontario) led the team with three and two shots each, respectively. Both of Mallach's shots were on goal as Christendom goalie Madeline Hill made two saves.

Christendom (5-4) scored twice in each half. The Crusaders received a goal each from Catherine Gaetano (5th minute), Bridget Handy (35th minute), Caelyn Burgess (51st minute) and Anne Nelson (57th minute).

  • GU made one team save to help Levesque out
  • One of Benz' shots in the second half hit the crossbar
  • The Bison held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks

GU returns home this weekend and will host two North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) games. The Bison will host Morrisville State College on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m.
