GANESVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Oct. 21 and junior Alexandra Polivanchuk (Orebro, Sweden) was chosen as the first NEAC Women's Swimmer of the Week this season. She is accompanied by fellow Gallaudet swimmer DJ Everton-Lovell (Norfolk, Va.), who won the award on the men's side.
Polivanchuk won three individual events during the Bison's season-opener last Saturday, as she took first place in the 100-meters breaststroke (1:24.46), the 200-meters IM (2:44.69) and the 100-meters butterfly (1:13.98). Despite her efforts, the Bison narrowly lost the meet, 109-95, at Frostburg State University.
This is Polivanchuk's fourth NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week award in her career. She received two as a sophomore (2011-12 season) and one last season (2012-13).
The Gallaudet University women's swimming and diving team will host NEAC foe SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. during Homecoming weekend.
