ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Gallaudet University junior Anna Polivanchuk (Orebro, Sweden) represented the Bison this weekend at the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) swimming and diving open championships held at the U.S. Naval Academy in Maryland’s capital city.
Polivanchuk lowered her school record time in the 100-yard backstroke on Saturday morning in the preliminaries as she touched the wall in 1:00.38 to place 23rd overall. Her time is faster then her 1:00.62 time posted two weeks ago at the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
Polivanchuk swam in the 50-yard freestyle on Friday and placed 24th in the preliminaries as she finished in 25.15 seconds. On Sunday, she closed out her program in the 100-yard freestyle where she finished 31st overall in 55.16 seconds. The top 16 finishers in each event advanced to that evening’s finals swam in the legendary Lejeune Hall.
The U.S. Naval Academy swept the 2014 ECAC men’s and women’s open swimming and diving championships.
