COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University men's and women's swimming diving teams left the nation's capital Thursday bound for the 2015 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championships being hosted by SUNY Cobleskill in Bouck Hall Natatorium this weekend (Feb. 13-15).
Preliminary rounds will begin at 10 a.m., each day, followed by each day’s event championship round starting at 6 p.m. except on Sunday when it will start at 5 p.m. Admission will be $5 for the general public, $3 for students with ID and children under the age of five will be admitted to the competition for free. There will be no live results or live video provided during the competition.
Gallaudet's men's team won its third NEAC championship last year at Cazenovia College. The Bison won the 2014 NEAC championship on the last day when they surpassed Cobleskill with 528 team points. The Fighting Tigers finished in second place (478 points) followed by Cazenovia in third place (435) and Wells was fourth (230).
Wells College won its third straight women's championship last year with 444 points followed by Cobleskill (417) and Gallaudet (399), in third place. Cazenovia (395), College of St. Elizabeth (302) and Cedar Crest College (141) rounded out the field of six.
This will be the third time the NEAC Championships have been hosted by Cobleskill since the conference adopted swimming and diving as a sport in 2010. This year’s championship meet will include six schools; SUNY Cobleskill, Gallaudet, Cazenovia, Wells, St. Elizabeth and Cedar Crest.
