COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The 2015 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) swimming and diving championships concluded Sunday evening at SUNY Cobleskill as Gallaudet University's women's team finished fifth overall.
The Bison earned 220 team points as they trailed Cazenovia College (518 points), SUNY Cobleskill (492), Cedar Crest College (362) and Wells College (349). The College of St. Elizabeth rounds out the field of six with 127 points.
GU's 400-yard freestyle relay team of junior Paige Foreman (Albuquerque, N.M.), sophomore Taylor Mickelson (Fargo, N.D.), sophomore Morgane Vincent (Châtenay-Malabry, France) and senior Katie Giles (Gaithersburg, Md.) wrapped up the women's competition in sixth place with a time of 5:02.16.
Giles was fifth in the 200 breaststroke as she finished in 2:55.04 while teammate Thyra Wood (Great Falls, Mont.) was fifth in the 100 freestyle (1:02.00). Junior Brianna Stroud-Williams (Tucker, Ga.) finished seventh in the 1,650 freestyle (22:51.94) followed by Foreman in 10th (25:10.28) and freshman Faye Frez-Albrecht (Canton, Conn.) in 12th (30:21.21). Foreman placed eighth in the 200 butterfly (3:35.45) and Vincent was 11th in the 200 breaststroke (3:32.85).
Gallaudet was making its fifth appearance at the NEAC championships since it joined the conference. The fifth place finish is the lowest a Bison women's team has finished in a NEAC championship. GU won the 2011 title during its first season in the conference.
