Anna Polivanchuk wins three events as GU comes up short in Frostburg State sweep

WASHINGTON – Senior Anna Polivanchuk (Orebro, Sweden) won three individual events and set two school records on Saturday but it wasn't enough as the Gallaudet women's swimming team lost to Frostburg State University, 171-91, in a non-conference meet at the Field House pool. GU men's swimming team lost 208-51 to the Bobcats.

Polivanchuk won three of the four events the Bison took a first-place finish in. She started her day with a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay where she teamed with senior Katie Giles (Gaithersburg, Md.), sophomores Paige-Cecily Ramos (New York, N.Y.) and Thyra Wood (Great Falls, Mont.) as they finished in 2:08.10, five seconds off the first place time posted by the Bobcats. Polivanchuk started the relay with the 50 yard backstroke leg where she touched the wall in 28.79 seconds to break her old school record time of 29.04 that she set on Feb. 15, 2014.  Polivanchuk won the 100 butterfly (1:05.50), 100 backstroke (1:01.05) and 100 individual medley (1:04.17), which was a new school record.
