CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Gallaudet men's and women's swimming & diving teams will travel up north for the 2016 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championships at Cazenovia College in the Stephen M. Schneeweiss Athletic Complex this weekend (Feb. 12-14).
The preliminary rounds will begin at 10 a.m., each day followed by the championship round sessions at 6:00 p.m except on Sunday, where the championship rounds will begin at 4:45 p.m. The three-day championship event will also be livestreamed via the following link:
"The women's team has been working hard all year and they have made great progress. They're ready for these championship events and go into the meet with the goal of achieving new personal records (PR's)," said Gallaudet coach Larry Curran.
Gallaudet’s women team finished in fifth place last year, earning 220 team points. Cazenovia won last year’s event (518 points), followed by SUNY Cobleskill (492), Cedar Crest College (362), Wells College (349), Gallaudet, and College of St. Elizabeth (127).
"The men's team is small this year and has some new athletes trying the sport for the first time. Their training should pay off with new PR's and a lot of experience to build for the future," Curran added.
SUNY Cobleskill men’s swimming and diving team won last year’s championship with 655 team points followed by Cazenovia (405), Wells (337), as Gallaudet finished in fourth place with 239 team points.
This will mark the third time Cazenovia College has hosted the NEAC Championships since swimming & diving was adopted as a conference sport in 2009-10. This year’s championship meet will include five schools; Cazenovia, Gallaudet, Wells, SUNY Cobleskill and Cedar Crest.
