Bill Snape enters his fifth year as head coach of the Gallaudet men's and women's swim teams. Coach Snape is the reigning Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.  The men's and women's swim teams have improved their record every year of his tenure, the Bison have broken numerous school records during his tenure. Coach Snape also serves as Director of U.S. Deaf Swimming and was the 2007 Head Coach of the U.S. National team at the World Deaf Swim Championships.

Coach Snape is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), where was a magna cum laude graduate of the honors college.

While at UCLA, he began coaching competitive age-group swim teams in California, New Jersey and Virginia.


Immediately following college graduation, Coach Snape served as the associate head swim coach at George Washington University for three seasons, while earning a law degree. Coach Snape currently serves as the senior counsel to the Center for Biological Diversity and is a professor/practioner-in-residence at American University Law School.

Coaching is in his blood as Coach Snape has also been both a youth soccer and high school cross-country coach over the past decade, while also participating as a masters' swimmer and water polo player.

"I enjoy leading Gallaudet's swim program," said Snape. "There is no question in my mind that there can be immediate and long-term successes with this program at such a premier university."
