LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Gallaudet University women’s track and field team had its final tune-up before the 2010 Capital Athletic Conference championships on Saturday as the Bison participated in the Lynchburg College Classic. There was no team scores kept at the meet.
Freshman Jessica Israel (Frederick, Md.) had the best day for the Bison as she finished eighth in the discus with a toss of 99 feet and nine inches (30.41 meters) and placed 18th in the hammer with a throw of 86 feet (26.21 meters).
Freshman Kayla Hardaway (Austin, Texas) ran in one event the 100-meter hurdles. She finished 17th overall in the preliminaries with a time of 18.82 seconds. Sophomore Janaee Cobbs (Sacramento, Calif.) ran in the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash. She placed 23rd in the 100 with a time of 15 seconds flat. Teammate Rosemary Johnson (Richardson, Texas) was right behind Cobbs in 24th place with a time of 15.56 seconds. Cobbs was 35th overall in the 200 with a time of 30.66.
GU will compete in its last CAC Track and Field Championship on Saturday, April 17, in Salisbury, Md. The meet hosted by Salisbury University is slated to get underway at 10 a.m.
