Jeter named an AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention selection

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recently announced its all-region teams and Gallaudet University senior Justine Jeter (Noblesville, Ind.) was picked as an honorable mention selection to the Mid-Atlantic region. This is Jeter's first-ever AVCA All-Region honor.

Jeter helped Gallaudet to a 27-14 record this season as the Bison won their first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference championship. The Bison beat Widener and DeSales last Saturday to capture the ECAC South Region Championship. Jeter was named the Most Outstanding Player as she recorded 50 combined kills in the two victories. For the season, Jeter led the Capital Athletic Conference with 543 kills (4.08 per set) as she started 37 matches and added 380 digs. She was named to the All-CAC second team on November 10.

GU has had at least one player honored by the AVCA All-Region teams for five of the past seven years. Senior libero Shana Lehmann (Frederick, Md.) was the last Bison to be recognized in 2007 as an honorable mention selection. Coach Lynn Ray Boren has coached seven of the eight Bison to earn AVCA honors since 2002.
