Ann Whited named NEAC Women's Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week for a second time

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Oct. 22 and Gallaudet University senior outside hitter Ann Whited (Fishers, Ind.) was named NEAC Women’s Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week for her all-around performance for the Bison last week.

The Bison (26-6) wrapped up a perfect 4-0 week with a victory over Penn. St.-Berks on Sunday afternoon as the team won each of their four matches last week in straight sets. Whited led the Bison as she totaled 32 kills and a .304 hitting percentage (32-8-79) to go along with 32 digs, 10 service aces, and two solo blocks for 44 points (3.7 p/set) on the week. The award is Whited’s second of the season as she was honored back on Sept. 17.

Gallaudet has earned five NEAC Women's Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week awards this season. Senior middle hitter Jessica Israel (Frederick, Md.) has been honored twice on Sept. 10 and Oct. 1 while sophomore outside hitter Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) was honored on Oct. 8 in addition to the two honors earned by Whited.

The team finished up its conference schedule with an unblemished 11-0 record and now turns its attention to out-of-conference matches with Catholic University, Lebanon Valley College and Scranton University before hosting the NEAC tournament on Nov. 2-3. The Bison’s next match is a home match against cross-town rivals Catholic on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.
