Ann Whited named NEAC Women's Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week
GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for the week of Sept. 17 and Gallaudet University senior outside hitter Ann Whited (Fishers, Ind.) was named NEAC Women's Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week for her sensational performance during a week that saw the Bison win four of their five games.
The honor is Whited's second of the week, as she was also named to the all-tournament team for her performance at the Sea Gull Classic at Salisbury University. During the tournament, Whited led the Bison with 57 kills, 56 digs, five assists, four service aces and a block as the Bison knocked off Baldwin Wallace, Centenary, and DeSales. She also put forth a strong performance in a loss to nationally ranked Salisbury in which she totaled 17 kills and 10 digs. She totaled three double-doubles for the week as she had 68 kills, 65 digs, six assists, five service aces and a block in five matches.
The award is the second consecutive NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week for the Bison women's volleyball team, as teammate Jessica Israel (Frederick, Md.) was recognized last week for her strong defensive play. The 10-3 Bison look to add to their accolades this week as they take on Johns Hopkins, Morrisville State, Wells and SUNYIT in away matches. The team will then return home for the Worthington Classic on Friday, Sept. 28 which kicks off at 2 p.m. in the Field House.
