GU women's cross country finishes 38th overall at DeSales Invitational

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women’s cross country team finished 38th overall at the DeSales University Invitational Saturday. The Bison accumulated 1,208 team points in the meet. There were 424 runners from 41 different teams that made up the field.

Dickinson College junior Catherine Campbell won the 6K race in 22 minutes and 58 seconds. The Dickinson team won the meet as well, with their first five runners finishing in first, third, sixth, 26th and 34th, for a score of 70. Kutztown University came in second with 98, followed by Marywood College with 138 points. Grove City College and Messiah College rounded out the top five, with 201 and 227 points, respectively.

Gallaudet sophomore Radoslava Slavova (Scranton, Pa.) led the Bison, finishing 315th overall in 30 minutes, 33 seconds. Sophomore Shadoe Williamson (Austin, Texas) came across the finish line several seconds back at 30:48 (328th place) and junior Chelsie Stallings (Sulphur, Okla.) finished in 31:54 (355th place). Fellow GU runners Payal Sharmacharya (Olathe, Kan.), Rachel Young (Leesburg, Va.) and Olvia Malcolm (St. Augustine, Fla.) finished in 415th place (39:38), 417th place (39:46) and 420th place (41:15), respectively.

The Bison will compete again next Saturday, October 15, in the Hood College Invitational in Frederick, Md., at 11 a.m.
