Gallaudet basketball participating in food drive through Nov. 22, donations reduce ticket price on game day

Three Food Bank Boxes stand in front of the Gallaudet Athletics Department logo in the lobby of the Field House. The boxes are pretty tall, about 3-4 feet tall and are made of white cardboard. There is a brickwall behind the boxes with the logo above the boxes.

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's and women's basketball programs have kicked off a food drive now through Tuesday, Nov. 22, with drop-off boxes located in the Field House lobby.

The basketball programs are working with the Capital Area Food Bank, who is asking for good and healthy food donations such as canned vegetables, hot and cold cereal, peanut butter, canned tuna, boxes of pasta, canned fruits, healthy snacks (granola bars, protein bars) and 100% juice boxes. Please do not donate any glass items.

If you donate on the night of Gallaudet's men's basketball home opener vs. St. Mary's (Md.) College at 6 p.m. you can receive $1 off your admission price for every item donated. Maximum discount is $3 off admission.

All faculty, staff, students and supporters of Gallaudet athletics is encouraged to donate.

The Bison men's and women's basketball teams will donate the items to the Capital Area Food Bank on Wednesday, Nov. 23, plus volunteer time at the location on the day before Thanksgiving.

If you have any questions about the Bison Food Drive please contact men's basketball head coach Kevin Kovacs or women's basketball head coach Stephanie Stevens.
