Gallaudet basketball teams holding a food drive through Dec. 1

Three Food Bank Boxes stand in front of the Gallaudet Athletics Department logo in the lobby of the Field House. The boxes are pretty tall, about 3-4 feet tall and are made of white cardboard. There is a brickwall behind the boxes with the logo above the boxes.

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's and women's basketball programs are holding a food drive now through Saturday, Dec. 1, as the teams are collecting food donations for the Capital Area Food Bank.

All faculty, staff, students and supporters of Gallaudet athletics are encouraged to donate. There are two tall white cardboard Capital Area Food Bank boxes located in the Field House lobby where donations are being accepted.

The basketball programs are working with the Capital Area Food Bank, who is asking for good and healthy food donations such as canned vegetables, hot and cold cereal, peanut butter, canned tuna, boxes of pasta, canned fruits, healthy snacks (granola bars, protein bars) and 100% juice boxes. Please do not donate any glass items.

GU will have several home dates during this food drive including women's basketball vs. Bryn Athyn (Nov. 25, noon), Penn St.-Berks (Dec. 1, 2 p.m.) while the men's basketball team will face Penn St.-Berks (Dec. 1, 4 p.m.). Please try and drop off your donations on a game day or whatever day works for you before the Dec. 1 deadline.

If you have any questions about the Bison Food Drive please contact men's basketball head coach Kevin Kovacs or women's basketball head coach Stephanie Stevens.
