GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Gallaudet University placed 51 student-athletes on the 2018-19 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Scholar-Athlete list as announced by the conference. Each student-athlete was required to accumulate a 3.4 or higher grade point average for the fall and spring semesters combined.

Gallaudet finished ninth overall among NEAC institutions and six associate members. Keuka College was first with 116 honorees followed by Lancaster Bible College (99), SUNY Poly (71), Wells College (66) and Penn College (60) round out the Top 5.

The NEAC honored 781 student-athletes this year from 17 different institutions who represent 36 different states and 16 different countries. GU, who completed its ninth year in the NEAC, had honorees hail from 25 different states and two countries.

Three Gallaudet student-athletes earned NEAC Scholar-Athlete honors all four years including Connor Baer (Union City, Calif.), Neha Balachandran (Centerville, Ohio) and Sabina Shysh (Tucson, Ariz.). Since Gallaudet joined the NEAC there have only been 17 Bison to earn NEAC Scholar-Athlete honors all four years.

GU had 21 repeat honorees from previous year's NEAC Scholar-Athlete listings and three others earned NEAC Scholar-Athlete honors for a third time.

Gallaudet’s women’s sports had 27 honorees compared to 24 honorees from men’s sports. There were five women that played more than one sport. GU sponsors six women’s sports and five men’s sports that compete in the NEAC.

Women's soccer led the way on the women's side with eight honorees followed by softball (seven), women's basketball (six), women's volleyball (five), women's cross country (four) and women's swimming (three).
