Washington, D.C. - The Bison baseball squad struggled through a tough weekend as they lost a pair of doubleheaders to move their overall record to 2-22-1. On Saturday CAC conference powerhouse Salisbury paid a visit to Hoy Field and were proved to be very rude guests. They took both rain shortened games by a combined score of 31-0. In the second game Bison pitchers Ryan Hastings (Cherry Valley, Massachusetts/MSSD) and John Moore Jr (Frederick, Maryland/Maryland School f/t Deaf) held the powerful Salisbury lineup to just 7 hits, but shaky defense once again proved to be too much to overcome for the fiesty Bison squad.
The resilient Bison bounced back Sunday morning to host non-conference opponent St. Joseph's back at Hoy field. Both games were very competitive as Gallaudet out hit the visitors 9 to 8 in the first game, lead by lead off man Zane Noschese (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania/Western Pennsylvania School f/t Deaf) who had 3. Zane finished the weekend a scorching 5 for 8 from the plate in the 4 games. The second game saw Gallaudet take a 2-0 lead into the 4th inning, only to have the pesky visitors from St. Joseph's chip away and eventually take the lead for good. Lefty Ryan Hastings continued to eat up innings for the Bison, pitching 7 strong innings Sunday and striking out 3.
The Bison are back in action Thursday as they host Christopher Newport at 3 p.m.
