WASHINGTON, D.C. - Gallaudet University baseball coach Curtis Pride is featured in the latest issue of the Washingtonian (October 2009). Pride, a former Major League Baseball player, is featured in the "Spotlight" section of the monthly magazine. The story is titled "Pride of Gallaudet."
The story covers Pride's major-league career and his path he took to Gallaudet. It also explains how he became a lip reader and learned to speak through voice lessons while growing up as a child. The feature goes over Pride's academic success as a student and his athletic success in high school and at William & Mary College.
The story is written by Matt Carr and is on newsstands now.
It will be a busy weekend for Coach Pride and the GU baseball program as they host a BBQ at the Homecoming football game on Saturday, October 24, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale through Coach Pride for $10. The ticket price on gameday increases to $15. The BBQ is being catered by "Famous Dave's BBQ" and will be located right next to the tennis courts behind Hotchkiss Field.
Plus, weather permitting on Sunday, October 25, the Bison baseball team will play a doubleheader scrimmage against Prince George's Community College at Noon at Hoy Field.
