GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its student-athlete of the week awards for April 14 and Gallaudet University junior pitcher Brandon Holsworth (Beal City, Mich.) was selected as the NEAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week. This marks Holsworth fourth NEAC Pitcher of the Week honor this season (March 3, March 10, April 7) and second consecutive week earning this award.
Holsworth tossed eight innings of shutout ball during a 13-0 conference win over SUNY Institute of Technology last Sunday, giving up just four hits – all singles – while striking out seven batters to help the Bison win the three-game series, 2-1, over the Wildcats.
Holsworth remains as the conference leader in both wins (seven) and strikeouts (56) for the Bison, who improved to 7-2 in NEAC play and 19-10 overall on the season.
Penn St.-Berks' Ryan Tantala took home NEAC Baseball Player of the Week honors as he went 7-for-13, three doubles, one home run, five RBI and four runs scored.
This marks the ninth NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the Bison this season. Sophomore pitcher Danny O'Donnell (Olney, Md.) was honored for the week of March 24 and March 31 while senior catcher Casey Hicks (Henderson, Nev.) has been honored three times (March 3, March 10, and April 7).
