Strong earns his second NEAC Baseball Player of the Week award

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its student-athlete of the week awards for March 23 and Gallaudet University sophomore first baseman Justin Strong (Charlotte, N.C.) was chosen as the NEAC Baseball Player of the Week. This is Strong's second award this month as he was honored by the conference on March 2.

Strong swung a hot bat during Gallaudet's spring break trip to Florida last week, posting a .632 batting average after going 12-for-19 with two doubles and two RBIs while striking out just once through five games. Strong had a least one hit in each game, including a perfect 4-for-4 performance with an RBI during a 5-4 win over Sewanee last Thursday. He followed that by going 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI against Rivier on Saturday night at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Md. The first baseman registered 42 putouts and two assists in the field while being involved in five double plays. Strong now leads the conference in hits with 18.

Keuka College freshman Ryan Lawrence was named the NEAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week after he threw a complete-game one-hitter to help the Wolfpack secure a 1-0 win over Union College last Sunday.

This marks the third NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the Bison baseball program this season. Senior Brandon Holsworth (Beal City, Mich.) was selected as the NEAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week on March 2.

The Bison will make the short trip over to Catholic University of America (9-2-1) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
