Gallaudet's Cameron Upton selected to the Team of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS - Gallaudet University junior infielder Cameron Upton (Vicksburg, Miss.) was selected to the Team of the Week on Tuesday after his impressive weekend leading the Bison to a 3-1 record in conference play on the road. Upton was selected as this week's top second baseman.

Upton posted a .889 batting average as he went 16-for-18 in four conference road games last weekend to conclude the 2018 season. The junior infielder hit for the cycle in his final game of the season against SUNY Cobleskill. He went 6-for-7 against the Fighting Tigers in a 23-14 victory. He finished the week with 12 RBI, 10 runs, six extra-base hits (three doubles, two triples, one home run), 26 total bases and two stolen bases. Upton posted an eye-popping 1.444 slugging percentage and an outstanding .850 on-base percentage.

Upton becomes the fourth NEAC player to be named to the Team of the Week this season. This is the 13th and final week for the national team of the week.

The Team of the Week is's weekly honor roll, in its seventh season, of recognizing the top performers at each position including four pitchers and one reliever from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors.

This marks the second time a Gallaudet baseball student-athlete has been selected to the Team of the Week since it began in 2012. In 2013, William Bissell was selected to the team in Week 6. This is Upton's first selection to the Team of the Week.
