WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University baseball team lost 10-1 to Hood College here Wednesday afternoon at Hoy Field.
Gallaudet (2-4) scored its run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Junior shortstop Cameron Upton (Vicksburg, Miss.) tripled to right field with two outs. After a walk was issued to sophomore Winston Lane (Brooklyn Center, Minn.), senior first baseman Justin Strong (Charlotte, N.C.) singled in Upton to cut the Hood lead to 9-1.
Hood (6-0) scored runs in six of the nine innings. The Blazers were led by Cam Esposito's 3-for-4 game where he scored four runs and hit two doubles. Second baseman Daniel Shepard and third baseman Wayne Baldwin collected two hits and drove in three and two runs, respectively.
Freshman starting pitcher Ethan Denson (Huffman, Texas) took the loss as he allowed seven runs (two earned) on seven hits, six walks and struck out two. Sophomore Robersy Delgado (Tampa, Fla.) pitched threee innings of relief where he surrendered two runs on four hits and struck out one. Sophomore Connor Rosko (Austin, Texas) pitched the ninth inning as Hood scored one run on two hits.
Hood starting pitcher Ryan Atkinson (1-0) went six innings where he allowed one run on five hits, walked three and struck out five.

Gallaudet will host Dean College (0-0) in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, March 3, starting at noon.
