Gallaudet baseball wraps up Spring Break swing

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Gallaudet University baseball team concluded its Spring Break trip here Friday with a 15-3 loss to North Park University at the Player Development Complex - Field 3.

Gallaudet (3-12-1) fell behind early as North Park (5-7) scored twice in the first, second and fourth innings to build a 6-1 lead through four innings. GU scored runs in the third, sixth and seventh innings.

Senior Kyle Gumm (Dallas, Texas) and sophomore Winston Lane (Brooklyn Center, Minn.) recorded two hits each while junior Cameron Upton (Vicksburg, Miss.) had a RBI single in the seventh.

Freshman starting pitcher Ethan Denson (Huffman, Texas) pitched 5.1 innings where he allowed 10 runs on 13 hits, walked one and struck out four.

North Park's Josh Smith (2-2) earned the win as he logged six innings where he allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits, two walks and one strikeout. First baseman Cullen Gilbertson went 4-for-5, three doubles, three runs and five RBI to pace the Vikings.

Gallaudet will return home and make a trip west to Winchester, Va., to face national power Shenandoah University (8-3) on Sunday, March 18, at 1 p.m.
