Bison get on the scoreboard in the fifth inning against Hood

FREDERICK, Md. - The Gallaudet University baseball team broke up a shutout against Hood College here Wednesday afternoon with a ground out in the fifth inning. The Bison lost the non-conference game, 21-1.

Gallaudet (2-3) scored its lone run in the fifth when freshman Bryan Ramos-Navarro (Springfield, Mass.) grounded into a double play as sophomore Austin Sliva-Wynne (Richmond, Texas) scored.

Hood (2-0) scored 21 runs on 13 hits and was aided by six Bison errors. The home team scored four times in the first two innings and never looked back. Second baseman Trent Copenhaver led the Blazers going 3-for-5 at the plate, drove in four runs and scored twice.

Junior Robersy Delgado (Tampa, Fla.) started the game and allowed eight runs on five hits, walked three in two innings of work. GU used five different pitchers in the game.

Hood starter Brad Sawyer (1-0) picked up the win as he allowed one run on four hits, walked one and struck out six batters in five innings worked.

Gallaudet will host Franklin & Marshall College (2-0) in a nine-inning, non-conference game on Saturday, March 2, at 1 p.m. at Hoy Field.
