FORT MYERS, Fla. - Gallaudet University dropped an 8-6 non-conference baseball game to SUNY Old Westbury here Monday at Player Development Complex.
Gallaudet (5-11) outscored Old Westbury (3-5-1) 5-3 over the course of the final four innings but that was after the Bison trailed 5-1 through the first five innings.
Junior Matt Scuderi (Jensen Beach, Fla.) singled to right field to plate two runs in the top of the sixth inning to cut the Panters' lead to two, 5-3.
Old Westbury responded with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 7-3 lead.
GU answered with three runs in the top of the eighth as a wild pitch and an errant throw allowed two of Gallaudet's three runs to score.
The Panthers added one more run in the bottom of the eighth to give themselves an insurance run.
Sophomore Darren Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) took the loss on the mound as he allowed eight runs on 11 hits, walked two batters and struck out three in 7.1 innings pitched.
Old Westbury pitcher Eddie Guzman (1-0) secured the win as he allowed two runs on four hits, four walks and one strikeout in five innings worked. Joe Sarni earned his first save with two scoreless innings to close the door between the three Panther pitchers.

Gallaudet will face Williams College (1-0) on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at Terry Park Field 1.
