WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Gallaudet University football team is featured in the newest edition of TOUCHDOWN ILLUSTRATED (TDI), the only weekly national gameday publication serving college football across every division. The article, written by Jeff Cummins, highlights the uniqueness of the university's program and its tradition, which dates back to the Bison's inaugural season in 1883. The TDI issue will be handed out for free to the first 100 fans at this weekend's football game vs. Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) opponent Mount Ida College (3-2, 2-1 ECFC) on Saturday, October 16, at Hotchkiss Field at Noon.
Bison (3-3, 1-2 ECFC) head coach Chuck Goldstein was interviewed for the story and spoke about the lineage of his players and their family members.
"If somebody's deaf, and their parents are deaf, or their cousin or uncle, they played at Gallaudet. So we have kids who have ties through generations to Gallaudet," said Goldstein.
Coach Goldstein also spoke about how well the turnout is for the team's road games, as players matriculate to GU from all over the country. Cummins likened its' nationwide following to Notre Dame, a statement that rings true nearly every game.
Make sure to be one of the first 100 fans at Saturday's game to get a free copy of TDI. If you cannot make the game in person, please follow online through GU Live Stats located here.
