Alleyne named to All-East Region Third Team Defense

MINNEAPOLIS - The 10th annual All-Region teams were announced and Gallaudet University senior linebacker Jaris Alleyne (Waldorf, Md.) was named to the All-East Region defense third team. Alleyne is the third Bison in school history to receive All-Region recognition joining Adham Talaat (2013) and Tony Tatum (2012), who were second-team defense selections during their respective years.

Alleyne was a standout linebacker for the Bison as he was named to the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) first team for a third straight year. Alleyne led the Bison in tackles (106), solo tackles (59) and assisted tackles (47), including a 24 tackle performance on senior day against SUNY Maritime. Alleyne led the conference in tackles per game (11.9) and was ranked No. 14 in Division III in the same category. The senior linebacker also helped lead a Bison defensive unit that ranks 22nd nationally in total defense.

Two different players from an ECFC program join Alleyne on the All-East teams including SUNY Maritime kicker Diogo Dietrich (second-team offense), Husson University guard Alex Young (third-team offense)

Nominating begins shortly after the regular season ends, and involves the Sports Information Director (SID) at each institution, using the stats they already upload to through PrestoSports. SIDs are contacted by email and the list is sent to conference offices for vetting before our panel of SIDs and staff in each region votes. Players who are first or second-team all-conference or independents at full Division III members are eligible for nomination. In 2014, 984 players were nominated, a new high.

The teams, selected in balloting by East Region sports information directors and staff, were chosen from 228 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen to the All-East Region teams. All players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for the All-America Teams that will be announced on Friday, Dec. 19, prior to the NCAA Division III football national championship game. However, the All-America teams are made up primarily of players named to the All-Region first or second teams. provides comprehensive coverage of Division III football throughout the country.
