Gallaudet football to be featured on Thursday's CBS This Morning show

A trio of Gallaudet football players are interviewed by a CBS News reporter in the team meeting room on GU's campus. The three players are seated and are wearing a gray Bison football t-shirt. The reporter has her back to the camera and is facing the three players to ask them a question. Off to the left are two interpreters working with the players to communicate with the reporter. There is a CBS This Morning blue and gold logo in the lower left corner. A video screen peak out just above the logo and shows the face of the reporter, who has red hair, and two of the players, who have black hair. There is a light on in the background along with a big white board that is helping to make this a really nice looking shot for television.

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University football program will be back in the national spotlight on Thursday morning as CBS This Morning airs its feature on the Bison team. The national morning show has been working on its story about Gallaudet, the world's only university in which all programs and services are specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students, for over a month.

Reporter Jan Crawford and a team of producers and photographers interviewed Gallaudet football head coach Chuck Goldstein along with juniors L.J. Watson (Fayetteville, N.C.), Daequan Taylor (Newport News, Va.) and Rashard Witherspoon (Brownsville, Tenn.) back in late September. They also attended Gallaudet's game against Anna Maria College on October 7 at Hotchkiss Field where the Bison won 73-23.

The Gallaudet story is part of an ongoing CBS series titled A More Perfect Union, where CBS shows what unites us as Americans is far greater than what divides us. The segment is slated to air on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 8:30 a.m. (EST & PST). Please check your local listings, program a DVR or check later on Thursday for the online version of the story.
