Gallaudet's Darrion Green named ECFC Rookie of the Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. - The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) announced its weekly honors for the week of Oct. 16 and Gallaudet University freshman slot Darrion Green (DeSoto, Texas) was selected as the Rookie of the Week after a strong Saturday running the ball against Alfred State College.

Green had 95 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns for the Bison in their 35-19 win over Alfred State. The rookie ran for a career best 68 yards on nine carries and scored one touchdown while he caught one touchdown pass for 27 yards in the second quarter. He scored GU's second touchdown of the game on a 12-yard run as Gallaudet led 14-0 early.

The rookie has rushed for 148 yards on 18 carries this season with three rushing touchdowns.

Junior quarterbacks Thomas Wright (SUNY Maritime) and Cory Brandon (Husson University) were named ECFC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, Mount Ida College senior linebacker Josh David was named Defensive Player of the Week and Husson senior defensive back Jean Gabriel took home ECFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

This is Gallaudet's third ECFC Player of the Week award this season and the first for Green.

Gallaudet (2-4, 2-1 ECFC) returns home for Homecoming Weekend and will host three-time defending champion Husson University (5-1, 3-0 ECFC) on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m.
