ROANOKE, Va. - Two Gallaudet University defensive players will have one final chance to showcase their skills in Dream Bowl VII hosted by Cutting Edge Sports Management during Martin Luther King, Jr., weekend. GU senior defensive back Louie Akuffo (Bowie, Md.) and senior linebacker Demontrai Lewis (Trinity, Texas) will play in Dream Bowl VII on Monday, Jan. 21, at noon at the Salem Football Stadium in Salem, Va.

The Dream Bowl features talented players from across the country who represent the Football Championship Series, Division II and Division III.

The Dream Bowl serves as a collegiate send-off game giving seniors a real bowl game experience, treating them to first-class accommodations, meals and facilities, along with a full weekend of football and social related activities for their friends and families. Invited players will get the chance to perform in front of National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL) scouts.

Akuffo and Lewis were selected to the 2018 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) all-conference first team. Akuffo made his second straight appearance on the first team and third on an All-ECFC team during his four-year career. Lewis was an all-conference honorable mention selection last year. Akuffo finished his career with 239 tackles (166 solo), 18.5 tackles for a loss of 45 yards, three forced fumbles, one interception, one sack and two blocks. Lewis in two years compiled 70 tackles (46 solo), 17.5 tackles for a loss of 86 yards, 5.5 sacks for a loss of 42 yards and two forced fumbles.

Akuffo and Lewis will be GU's second and third players, respectively, to participate in the Dream Bowl. Current Defensive Backs coach Carneilus Smith played in Dream Bowl V two years ago.
