Gallaudet Invites all Alumni to Attend January 31 Alumni Basketball Madness Day

Come see some of the most exciting players in Gallaudet history at the 13th annual Alumni Basketball Madness Day January 31, when the Gallaudet men's and women's basketball teams take on Wesley College at 4 and 6 pm.

The women's team has already exceeded their win total from last season under the leadership of second year Head Coach Kevin Cook, who came to Gallaudet straight from the WNBA's Houston Comets, where he was an assistant coach on 4 WNBA championship teams.  Coach Cook has a formidable trio of Nukeitra Hayes, Ursa Rewolinski, and Brittainy Payne. All three players who had at least one double-double this season.  Hayes, a sophomore is the Capital Athletic Conference's reigning Rookie of the Year. This year she is in the top 3 in the conference in points, rebounding, and blocked shots.  Rewolinski, a senior, and Payne, a sophomore, are in the top ten in the conference in rebounding.

The men's team, led by second year Head Coach Jeb Barber, jumped out to a quick 7-2 start this season, and also features several exciting players, including two in their final year of eligibility. Sekoe White and Jon Mowl are entering their final month in a Gallaudet uniform.  Both are having a great season and are averaging in double figures in points.  White is in the top 8 in the conference in points, rebounding, steals, assists, and blocked shots  and has improved tremendously over the season and is playing some of his best basketball now.  Mowl is an exciting point guard who can shoot from anywhere on the floor and always finds his teammates when they are open. Gallaudet also has Tony Tatum, a freshman, who is the leading candidate for conference rookie of the year and has already been named Conference Player of the Week, earlier this season.

All GUAA members will receive $2 off admission for this event, and also will receive a free hot dog and soda. There will also be a free throw contest and giveaways during halftime.

Important: The men's game will be first at 4 pm.  The women's game will follow at 6 pm.
