GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its student-athlete of the week awards for Feb. 13, and Gallaudet University senior guard Brandon McMillan (Frederick, Md.) was named NEAC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. McMillan was previously honored by the conference on Nov. 23, 2011.
McMillan had a record-breaking game this past Sunday on Senior Day as he scored 46 points in a 95-90 victory against Penn St.-Abington at home. The 46 points is a new NEAC single-game points record along with his 21 field goals made. McMillan made 21 of 28 shots from the field and went 4-for-6 from three-point range. His career-high 46 points was accomplished without taking one free throw. McMillan's 46 points is one shy of the school record of 47 set back in 1965 by Kevin Milligan in a double overtime loss at Washington (Md.) College. The 21 field goals made is a new school record. McMillan's 46-point performance pushed him over 300 points scored this year and 800 for his career in four seasons. Earlier in the week McMillan scored a team-high 16 points against NEAC South Division leader Penn St.-Harrisburg in a loss on the road.
This is the third NEAC award for the team this season as senior guard Tony Tatum (Gardendale, Ala.) was selected by the conference on Jan. 23, 2012.
Gallaudet (11-11, 8-5 NEAC South) will close out the regular-season on Sunday, Feb. 19, as it travels to Reading, Pa., to take on Penn St.-Berks (7-13, 6-5 NEAC South).
