LANCASTER, Pa. – Gallaudet University coach Brendan Stern picked up his first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) men's basketball win on Saturday as the Bison defeated Lancaster Bible College, 71-60, on the road before a crowd of 249.
Gallaudet (4-5, 1-1 NEAC) outscored Lancaster Bible 44-30 in the second half after the Bison trailed by three, 30-27, at halftime. The Bison turned around a slow start where they shot 6-of-25 (24 percent) in the first 20 minutes and then responded by making 14-of-26 shots (53.8 percent) in the second half.
The Bison were led by senior Layton Seeber (Champaign, Ill.) who scored a career-high 27 points and passed out six assists. Fellow senior Danny Kelly (Strongsville, Ohio) added 15 points, seven rebounds as he matched Seeber with 10 free throws. Junior forward Orion Palmer (Riverside, Calif.) threw in 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the win.
Lancaster Bible (0-8, 0-2 NEAC) was led by Keith Keltner's 15 points and seven rebounds while Dan Karl scored 13 points in the 11-point loss.
Gallaudet returns home to host Catholic University of America on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in a non-conference game.
