BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Gallaudet University exacted revenge Tuesday night as it defeated Bryn Athyn College, 66-53, on the road in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) men's basketball game.
Gallaudet (17-5, 13-3 NEAC) lost one of its three conference games to Bryn Athyn (5-19, 5-12 NEAC), 62-56, back on Jan. 8. Tonight's victory increased GU's program best winning streak to 10 straight, tied the school record for wins in a season and surpassed the program mark for NEAC conference wins in a season.
Sophomore guard Raymond Nelson (Riverside, Calif.) led the Bison with 17 points as he made 7 of 12 shots and added three rebounds and three steals. Sophomore forward Joshua McGriff (Somerset, N.J.) recorded a double-double off the bench with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Ben Coleman (St. Paris, Ohio) made three three-pointers as he tallied nine points. Freshman Rashad Gatlin (Chicago, Ill.) added nine points while fellow freshman Andy Cruz (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in eight points. Junior guard Trey Gordon (Talladega, Ala.), one of the leading scorers in the NEAC, had an off night as he only made 2 of 14 shots for five points.
Joseph Kehoe led the Lions with 14 points and three rebounds in the loss. GU led 33-24 at halftime and outscored the host 33-29 in the second half. The Bison scored 34 points in the post and received 25 points from their bench.
The Bison will head into a showdown Friday night against NEAC South Division leader Lancaster Bible College (21-2, 15-1 NEAC) on the road at 7 p.m. GU defeated the Chargers, 64-46, back on Jan. 31 in the Field House.
