GU men's basketball ranked No. 2 in NEAC preseason coaches poll

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team will enter the 2016-17 season ranked second overall in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) preseason coaches poll. The Bison accumulated 152 points and four first-place votes.

GU is coming off an 18-8 season that tied the school record for conference wins (14) and overall wins in a season (18). The Bison ended their season in the NEAC semifinal round with a 74-63 loss to Morrisville State College.

SUNY Polytechnic Institute is the preseason No. 1 as the Wildcats collected 157 points. The Bison are followed by No. 3 Morrisville State College in third (140 points).  Lancaster Bible College, the 2015-16 NEAC champions, check in at No. 5 (135) and two first-place votes. Wells College was the other program to receive a first-place vote as the Express were picked fourth (137).

Gallaudet opens the season next week against Bridgewater (Va.) College on Friday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Va.
