GU's Cruz earns second NEAC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week award

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its conference student-athlete of the week awards for the week of Jan. 22 and Gallaudet University's senior Andy Cruz (Bronx, N.Y.) was selected as the NEAC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.

Cruz averaged 19 points and 14.5 rebounds per game last week as Gallaudet went 1-1 in NEAC play. He scored 19 points in each game while grabbing a career-high 19 rebounds in a loss to Wilson. Cruz also recorded 10 rebounds in a 74-62 win on the road at Penn St.-Berks. Cruz totaled 38 points, 29 rebounds, four assists, five steals and three blocks on the week. With a month left in the regular season, Cruz ranks first in the NEAC with 65 offensive rebounds and fourth with 133 total rebounds.

This is Gallaudet's second NEAC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week honor this season and Cruz's second of his career.

Gallaudet (4-12) will travel to Widener University (8-9) for a non-conference game Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m.
