Bison punch postseason ticket with win over Bryn Athyn

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's basketball team picked up a crucial North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division victory here Wednesday night as the Bison led from start-to-finish in an 81-63 victory over Bryn Athyn College in the Field House on Padden Court.

The win helps to clinch a conference tournament berth for Gallaudet (7-15, 7-7 NEAC) as it now stands 6-4 in NEAC South Division games with two conference contests left. The top four teams from the North and South Division will make the NEAC tournament based off their divisional records. The Bison can still improve their tournament seeding with games against Wilson and Penn St.-Abington, both ahead of GU in the South Division, in the next two weeks.

Bryn Athyn (8-15, 5-9 NEAC) falls to 3-7 in NEAC South Division games.

Sophomore guard Noah Valencia (Riverside, Calif.) scored 17 of his game-high 31 points in the second half as he made 5 of 7 shots from three-point range. He made 11 of 18 shots from the field in the game, grabbed four rebounds and passed out three assists. Senior forward Andy Cruz (Bronx, N.Y.) added 13 points, nine rebounds, four steals, two assists and one block. Freshman Lance Wood (Fishers, Ind.) came off the bench and scored a career best 10 points and ripped down six boards. Freshman guard Preston Kelly (Fishers, Ind.) passed out a career-high nine assists, grabbed seven rebounds, two steals and scored six points in the win.

Gallaudet led 41-32 at the half after Valencia drained a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Bison a nine-point lead the momentum.

The Lions had a trio of players score 11 points including Lamarr Crenshaw (six rebounds), Christian Rivera, Rahmin Washington (eight rebounds) while Larry Stevenson III added 10 points in the loss.
