Gallaudet's Noah Valencia earns CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's Basketball honors

WASHINGTON  - The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), were released and Gallaudet University junior guard Noah Valencia (Riverside, Calif.) was named to the District 2 first team for Division III. Valencia will now be added to the national ballot for the chance to earn Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on Wednesday, March 13.

Valencia is making his first appearnace on the Google Cloud Academic All-District® team representing Gallaudet, the world's only university with programs and services specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students.

Valencia is one of five selections on the Division III - District 2 team as he is joined by Wesleyan University senior Jordan Bonner, Roger Williams University senior Austin Coene, Mitchell College senior Domenico Santiago and The College of New Jersey junior Randall Walko.

Valencia, a physical education and recreation major, boasts the second-highest GPA among District 2 honorees from Division III with a 3.82 mark. He was recently named to the 2018-19 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) all-conference second team. He finished the season with 455 points, 75 rebounds, 65 assists and 44 steals. Valencia led the Bison (7-18) with an 18.2 points per game average in 25 starts.

This is the fifth Google Cloud Academic All-District® honoree for Gallaudet University since 2009-10. Valenica (2018-19) joins two-time recipient Trey Gordon (2014-15, 2015-16), Todd Bonheyo (2015-16) and Robert Siebert (2009-10).

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. District Two is comprised of Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and West Virginia.

CoSIDA began this program in the 1950's, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these elite CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.
