WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's basketball program is raising funds to help support its summer international trip to Costa Rica. The Bison are working with Beyond Sports Tours on the logistics of the trip and raising money for the team through Mighty Cause.

The Bison are slated to travel to Costa Rica from Aug. 14-22, 2019. The money raised will help offset costs for the team for airfare, hotel, meals and games. The team needs to raise $2,100 per person for the nine-day trip.

The GU men's basketball team is hoping to become the first Gallaudet athletics team to make an international trip in school history. As part of the trip, the Bison will volunteer with Costa Rica's Special Olympics. Plus, the team plans to host a free basketball clinic for deaf students in Costa Rica.
