GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team will enter the 2018-19 season ranked eighth overall in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) preseason coaches poll. The Bison accumulated 50 points in the 12-team conference poll that was released Tuesday.
Gallaudet finished the 2017-18 season in the NEAC tournament quarterfinals after it went 9-17 overall and 8-8 in conference play.
Morrisville State is the preseason No. 1 team with 119 points and nine first-place votes. The Mustangs are followed by SUNY Poly (108 points), defending NEAC champion Lancaster Bible College (100), Penn St.-Abington (86) and Keuka College (74) round out the top five. The Chargers received the other three first-place votes. Gallaudet was tied with SUNY Cobleskill with 50 points but the Bison had the higher ordinal number points to earn the No. 8 slot over the Fighting Tigers.
Gallaudet begins the 2018-19 season this Friday, Nov. 9, in Frederick, Md., at the MMI Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Hood College. The Bison will face the Blazers at 4 p.m.

The preseason poll rankings were conducted by the NEAC men's basketball coaches, with each coach ranking out all teams but their own using a staggered points system (11 points for a first-place vote, 10 points for second, etc.). No self-voting was allowed. This is the fourth year the NEAC has held preseason polls.
