Gallaudet blanked by the two-time defending NEAC champions

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's soccer team fell to Morrisville State College, 4-0, in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play at Hotchkiss Field here Saturday.

The Bison (4-10-1, 2-7-1 NEAC) were held to just four shots against the Mustangs (10-2, 9-1 NEAC), the two-time defending conference champions, as they were on the defensive end of the field for most of the game.

Joe Sheehan, leading scorer for the Mustangs, scored just two minutes into the game giving Morrisville State the momentum to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Bison battled into the second half but Morrisville's Jose Figueroa scored on a set piece just outside the box in the 59th minute to extend the lead to two.

Morrisville scored two more times in the second half to cap the game. Sheehan netted his second goal of the game and his 12th on the season in the 65th minute.

  • Junior midfielder Angel Ortiz (New York, N.Y.) led the Bison with two shots on goal
  • Three different Bison recorded a shot

The Bison return to the pitch tomorrow (Sunday, Oct. 16) at 2 p.m. against Cazenovia College (4-9, 2-7 NEAC) in a conference game. This is the final home game of the season for the Bison. The men's soccer program will recognize its seniors on Senior Day prior to the start of the game.
