GU falls on the road to Marymount, 5-1

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Gallaudet University men's soccer team made the short trip over to Arlington, Va., on Tuesday night to face Marymount (Va.) University in a non-conference showdown. The Bison fell behind early and didn't get on the scoreboard until the 77th minute as they lost 5-1.

Gallaudet (0-3-1) sophomore forward Chad Johnson (Gardena, Calif.) scored an unassisted goal at the 77:02 mark to cut the Saints' lead to four. Johnson has two goals this season.

Marymount (2-3) scored four minutes in to the game and took a 2-0 lead into halftime. The Saint added three more tallies, early in the second half, as the host led 5-0.

Sophomore goalie Shane Angel (Mechanicsville, Va.) made six saves in the loss.

Marymount forward Leonardo Luna scored twice to lead the Saints as they used two different goalies in the win.

  • Eduardo Cardonne picked up the win in net for MU and made two saves
  • The Saints held a 26-5 advantage in shots and 10-6 margin in corner kicks

Gallaudet will begin conference play on Saturday, Sept. 14, at home against Penn St.-Berks (0-3-1) at 1 p.m.
