CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University men’s swimming and diving team look to reclaim its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) title as the Bison came out strong on Friday night at the 2014 conference championships being hosted by Cazenovia College.
The Bison currently lead the field of four teams with 160 team points. SUNY Cobleskill (137), Cazenovia College (107) and Wells College (71) round out the top four.
Gallaudet’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Myles Goldberg (Frederick Md.), senior Tony Dall (Indianapolis, Ind.), sophomore Neal Matthews (Kent Island, Md.) and junior Bernardo Toledo (Río Piedras, Puerto Rico) finished second overall with a time of 1:45.89 to earn 26 team points.
Senior DJ Everton-Lovell (Norfolk, Va.), junior Abdiel Davila-Cruz (Orlando, Fla.), freshman Ryan Klock (Puyallup, Wash.) and sophomore Maurice Abenchuchan (St. Augustine, Fla.) finished third overall in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:12.94 to earn 24 points. Davila-Cruz and Klock added to the Bison lead after they finished third (2:23.54) and fourth (2:25.16) in the 200-yard IM, respectively.
The second day of the NEAC swimming and diving championships will take place Saturday with preliminaries at 10 a.m. followed by the finals at 6 p.m. in seven different events.
