COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The defending North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) men's swimming and diving champions find themselves tied for third place after the first day of the 2015 championships being held at SUNY Cobleskill.
Gallaudet, seeking its fourth NEAC title, is knotted with Wells College with 92 team points in third place. The host Fighting Tigers are first with 226 points followed by Cazenovia College with 95 points after six events.
Sophomore Brandt Marceaux (Abbeville, La.) earned all-conference honors as he finished second in the 1-meter diving event with 197.05 team points. Sophomore Xuan Lin (Fulton, Ill.) was seventh in the 200-yard IM with a time of 3:05.41. Junior Neal Matthews (Kent Island, Md.) was the top Bison in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.17 seconds. Nathan Parkin (Elgin, Ill.) was the top GU swimmer in the 500 freestyle as he touched the wall in 7:02.08.
Two GU relay teams finished in the top four spots, in their respective events, as the 400 medley relay team finished in 4:54.43 while the 200 freestyle relay team placed fourth overall with a time of 1:46.94.
The second day of the NEAC swimming and diving championships will take place Saturday with preliminaries at 10 a.m. followed by the finals at 6 p.m. in seven different events.
